Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have caused power cuts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were injured while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to drinking water, as stated by local authorities.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in supplying defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were working to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by municipal representatives.
