Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
